A form of non-violent protests were sit-ins where they sat at a white-only lunch counter until they were served. Mahatma Gandhi helped bring racial equality to Indians and promoted non-violent protests. Also, Jackie Robinson helped break the color barrier when he was the first black player to be in Major League Baseball.Sit-ins were a type of non-violent protest they did. They would enter the restaurant and sit down quietly on the white only counters until they were served or the restaurant closed. They were often threatened but they still sat. Many people wanted to start fights with them but never happened. Once physical violence occurred, they would get down and curl up and accept the punishment. Once the police came and arrested them, another group would come in and replace the seats.A person that contributed to racial equality was Mahatma Gandhi. He was born on October 2, 1869, Porbandar, India. He was the leader of India’s non-violent independence movement to break free of British ruling and become an independent country. He also helped Indians in South Africa to get their civil rights. There was a lot of racism towards Indians in South Africa. Martin Luther King Jr. was influenced by Mahatma Gandhi’s non-violent protests. He then died in 1948 because he was assassinated.Finally, Jackie Robinson contributed to racial equality by breaking the color barrier when he was the first black player to play in the Major League Baseball. He joins the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. He was one of the most talented players at a .311 batting career average. He also participated as being a vocal civil rights activist. He faced a lot of racism against him when he played but he kept calm and that helped him play better.All these people and tactics help bring racial equality to blacks. Each person did great leadership and great speeches. The tactics used were non-violent along with the leaders. They did a lot to give racial equality.
