Summary sentences also makes reading the book much
Summary of the book.
Crystal is the typical high school girl who lives with her divorced mother. One year ago an unfortunate accident happend with a girl from her school, getting the girl, who’s name is Olivia Own, killed. A year later Crystal seems to catch sight of the dead girl in the hallway and sometimes even in her classes. Crystal seems to be the only one seeing the deceased girl, and whilst preparing for a party. She catches a glimpse of some sort of ritual being held by her mother and her mothers friends. None the less she also sees Olivia, the deceased girl standing there, looking likes she needs help. With all of this happening she finally talks to her mom, which shares the secret of her and Crystal. Crystal can see the past, future and speak and see dead. With a simpel touch she knows secrets and a thought you yourself never told anyone, with that also comes a great responsibility when a popular girl looks for help for her best friend, whom has an abusive boyfriend. Add blackmailing to that and the adventure for Crystal and her friends to find out the secret of Olivia Owen while still being on top of it all has begun.
The plot itself is quite interesting, it first starts to look like a normal “Girl gets power” story, but it ends up completely going a different way in my opinion. You start guessing but no, it ends up far more different than you thought, what a bummer. Not to mention that the protagonist was relatable, Crystal has normal characteristics, typical school girl, living alone with her mother, weirdo friend. I like that because it makes readers feel more connected to the book, even though Crystal gets special abilities.
I myself adore the writing style, I love detailed and difficult texts. It makes the book more interesting to read and also you learn some words from it. The detailed sentences also makes reading the book much more smoother, if I sentenced that right.
“Once I found my legs, we entered the building. The commons took on a different role today. Instead of everyone seated at tables waiting for the bell to ring, most were crowded toward the far end of the room. It was quieter than normal, too, as if a tragedy had just taken place.” – Chapter 1, Page 8.
I would’ve liked it to be a tad more romantic, there is nothing very romantic in this book. In the second book its a slightly bit more romantic from what I’ve heard. Also I would’ve liked it to be more like a thriller, as the ending is not the best. Other than that I quite liked the book.
