Historical Analysis ResponseWhat if Lincoln Was Never Assassinated? I think that if Lincoln was  never assassinated that he would have finished out his term and possibly ran for a second term. If he won he’d focus on rebuilding the nation even further, if he lost I feel like he’d focus on himself, and his life after presidency. Things such as him and his family, maybe a lawyering opportunity, and growing out his beard. I also think that he would do things for the community and the people around him as a hobby, while maintaining focus on the things I listed earlier. If Innocent Until Proven Guilty Didn’t Exist If innocent until proven guilty didn’t exist, there would be so many different endings to court cases. Many people are too stubborn to change their opinion or it takes a lot to do it, so they think someone is guilty and stick with it. Although there are many cases where innocent until proven guilty was never applied, there are many more where it did apply. If it didn’t apply in those ones, many people would be wrongly convicted. If Osama Bin Laden Never Attacked on 9/11 If Osama Bin Laden never attacked 9/11, things would be very different. I feel like terrorism would have taken longer to be considered a serious thing, especially with plane hijackers. After 9/11, they really cracked down in airports. Also, I feel like another significant event between the United States and the middle east would have taken place. So maybe some other sort of terrorist attack, or assassination would have taken place. Osama Bin Laden may possibly even be alive today if 9/11 never happened. What if Concentration Camps Never Existed? If concentration camps never existed as a whole, history may be rewritten on some subjects. So many countries have used some sort of concentration camp. Most famously Germany during WW2. There would be many more people alive, and also many Nazis not being charged with war crimes. Also, I think there would be more killings of Jews that weren’t in concentration camps.  Other countries such as the US and Canada have used a type of concentration camp. So they wouldn’t exist. If the 8th Amendment Didn’t Exist If the 8th amendment didn’t exist, obviously punishments wouldn’t be limited. People would be tortured. People being held for minimal crimes could be treated however they want. Also, minor offenses could be dealt with huge fines, or ridiculous punishments. If you got stopped for possession of marijuana, you could be fined any amount of money. Or if they felt like it, they could cut limbs off or starve you (example).
