Electrical Engineering has played a major role in the world we live in. In a world driven by technology, engineers are pushing the status quo and they are drivers of innovation for all applications society utilize. Since the days of Alessandro Volta when he introduced the battery, we have improved power systems with Electrical Engineers. Many different Electrical Engineers have established standards since the creation of the profession. Nikola Tesla discovered the now popular Alternate Current electricity. Michael Faraday’s contributions and discoveries of electromagnetic induction, electrolysis, and diamagnetism created a foundation for electromagnetism and electrochemistry. Alessandro Volta allowed all Electrical Engineers to be successful with his invention of the electrical battery and most famously, the volt. The characteristic that they all have in common is that used resources and knowledge to push the field of Electrical Engineering. This is the mindset all Electrical Engineers have and allows them to push to new frontiers. The reason I am able to research and discuss Electrical Engineering is because of what the field has been able to provide and create. Furthermore, a world without Electrical Engineers would mean no internet, TVs, clean water, cell phones, and lighting. We would be living in a world similar to the society of the 17th century. A world without Electrical Engineering is a world with no communication and severely limits abilities and accomplishments that humans can achieve.Finally, the greatest inventors we think of have connections to Electrical Engineering due to the fact that it is implemented into everything. Electrical Engineers of the past were creative and intelligent thinkers that were able to find solutions, even if not necessary. All Electrical Engineers ostensibly use creativity and innovation to improve our lives. So when we ask how Electrical Engineering changes the world, we must ask how it does not change the world due to its broad influence and precedent characteristics. Electrical Engineering has been evolving and so will society and it’s our responsibility to maintain it.
