Due extremely unfair and inequitable that this king
Due to many historical events modern civilizations has been unified. With in the past people ultimately tried to change and make the world better, some which became historical and is why the country is like the way it is. Wars and disputes are fundamentally sometimes known to make this change, and a persons various attitudes, actions, and grievances with in this war are what leads this change. In the creation of the Declaration of Independence colonists brought out there idea of independence from great britain and soon overruled their king. After defending and protecting the colonists, the British government forced taxes on them in an effort to both control and manipulate their actions, grievances leading to the resolution which would become known as the a Declaration of Independence. As colonists who were tired of Great Britain’s unreasonable acts among them, colonists began to now speak their opinion. George Mason a colonists who accuses Great Britain of taking their money through the taxes placed on the colonists. “We have always acknowledged we are always ready to recognize the sovereignty of Great Britain but we will not submit to have our own money taken out of our pockets without our consent;” (Document A). With now wanting to take more amount of money from colonists, Great Britain levied Acts such as the Quartering act and Stamp act. Colonists grew angry not only because of the high tax but because they had no direct representation in the parliament that gave the tax. While George Mason is able to recognize Great Britain’s supreme power and authority, Mason is not willing to have their own money taken away from them and give the life of free men to become slaves for their mother-country. Colonists viewed the king using a word known as tyrant which very much describe the king and his actions. Colonists found it extremely unfair and inequitable that this king had complete say over the them without listening to the colonists themselves. “…The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States…….He has refused to pass other Laws” (Document F). Colonists used this word to show what kind of king he was to his kingdom. The people also said that the king sent large groups of officers to harass other people. And that the king, without the consent from the legislature had a standing army. Colonists did not see highly and were not in agreeance with King George violating the rights of colonists self-government. Within the part of the declaration explain the kind oppressive power on colonists by showing his abusive and tyrannical acts. Colonists were willing to take risks to ensure their voices were heard. Colonists disguised themselves as the british and did something known as the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Port Act was passed by British parliament because it was an effort to gain Bostons control due to their action of spilling the tea. “The Boston Tea Party was the response of angry colonists to the taxing and importing of tea from Great Britain” (Document C). Not only did Britain tax colonists on tea but on paper, and other items such as molasse. A multitude of taxes that were levied on colonists were passed there british parliament, making them feel as tho they should not pay these taxes. Colonists continued protesting and revolting towards the British and the British continued to increase the taxes. The king viewed the colonists that rebelled against him as dead to him and disrespectful. The more colonists protested and rebelled against, the more the king grew hate for them. Colonists who were responsible for the Boston Tea Party, and apart of any boycotts or protest felt this cruelty. King George says that colonists “arraying themselves in a hostile manner, to withstand the execution of the law, and traitorously preparing, ordering and levying war against us…”(Document D) The king planned to create any form of punishment to suppress the rebellion. The king used officers, as well civil as military, and all others our obedient and loyal subjects to generate more punishment for the “traitors”. The Declaration of Independence formally allowed colonist to be independent from Great Britain. Colonists like Jefferson believed that king had violated the colonists by placing theses taxes with no consent and passing unfair laws. This written piece allows for colonists to break from britain and mainly the horrible King George II. “On July 4 1776, the Continental congress approved the Declaration of Independence” (United States History, 120). This is where now the Colonists are free from any ties from britain.
