Why People Love Lime Crime

Doe Deere works hard to make sure Lime Crime, which focuses strongly on online purchases, stay ahead of the curve. It’s not hard to see why Lime Crime is such a cult favorite – the brand both responds to trends and creates them. Doe Deere herself is no stranger to innovation – she started out in New York City as a singer and quickly turned to fashion. Lime Crime was originally the name for her eBay account, where she modeled all of the makeup and looks herself.

Two of the biggest “cult” products to come from Lime Crime in recent years are the Velvetines lipsticks, which are inspired by rose petals and don’t fade, crease, or transfer; and Unicorn Hair, a semi-permanent hair dye which was just launched this spring to explosive fanfare on social media.

For Deere and her ‘unicorns’ – the brand’s loyal customers – experimenting with products like these are all part of creating, exploring, and being yourself. This summer, Lime Crime responded to fan demand and created a Mermaid makeup collection, filled with the quirky colors and bright shades Lime Crime unicorns have come to expect: Siren, a frosted peach; and Mermaid’s Grotto, a robin’s-egg blue with a pretty gold sheen.

If you scan Lime Crime’s Tumblr or Instagram, the quirky edge behind these feminine looks is hard to miss. Women that have tagged the brand in pictures are creating innovative color combinations with the different shades of Unicorn Hair. It’s a true embodiment of the Lime Crime spirit, one that whole-heartedly embraces taking risks and being unconventionally beautiful.

Doe Deere’s morning beauty routine reflects that spirit. She recently shared her morning routine with Savoir Flair so us lucky unicorns can steal her secrets. She makes orange juice out of oranges from her own tree, and does a series of stretches to help her feel elongated. Her favorite is the “cat/cow” series of yoga poses. And, as Doe Deere explains, it’s always important to start your day with a full glass of water!

In the morning, Doe Deere also prioritizes time for reflection and tapping into creativity. She says it takes anywhere from 15 minutes to a whopping whole hour to do her makeup – and we’d expect nothing less from the self-proclaimed Queen of the Unicorns! Most of us like to listen to music while we’re putting on our faces. Doe Deere currently loves listening to the Beatles.

Doe Deere is the embodiment of how successful you can be when you follow a dream and turn it into reality.
