Emmons decided to bottle the water using methods that were friendly to the environment. Instead of using plastic bottles, he uses bottles that are made of completely recycled materials so that they don’t clog landfills.

According to Global News Wire, the manufacturing process uses a significantly lower amount of energy than that of other bottled beverage companies. As a result, Waiakea Water is the first bottled beverage company to be certified carbon neutral.

In an effort to give back, Emmons launched a unique charitable campaign that takes an ethical initiative. Along with Pump Aid, the charitable organization known for providing clean water to underprivileged regions around the world, the company is making a difference on a global scale. For every liter of Waiakea  Water purchased, the company gives 650 liters of fresh drinking water to an impoverished part of the world.

Because of Emmons’ commitment to social responsibility, Waiakea Hawaiian Volcanic Water continues to thrive. Now valued at over $10 million, the company is doing so well that Emmons is opening a new manufacturing facility in Hawaii.
