Even though Billy McFarland is still in his twenties’s he has an impressive success story of being able to start new businesses and make the successful. He began his first business at the age of 13, which found clients for a local business.
While attending Bucknell as a freshman computer engineering student, he founded a company that is still a going concern today. It transforms the URL of a company into a graphic that helps to sell the brand of the client company.
In 2013, in New York City, McFarland started Magnises, which has taken off in an unbelievable way. Magnises is a platform designed for millennials which affords them very attractive discounts and perks at many of their favorite haunts. Many of their favorite restaurants, clubs, bars, meeting places, travel opportunities, events, concerts, and special occasions offer discounts and perks through Magnises, for the relatively inexpensive annual fee of $250.
The Black Card copies all of the member’s data from his or her debit or credit card onto the Black Card. The member will then use the Black Card to pay the bill at the restaurant, for example, while the discount is automatically applied.
Since the end of 2015, when membership topped the 10,000 mark, having a Black Card from Magnises has become all the rage, membership has become a prime objective for millennials. It marks the fact that there is a new game in town, and the advantages of membership are enormous.
Millennials love to congregate and mix business with pleasure. Millennials like to talk shop, brag about themselves, and make business contacts. What better way to do all of that than be able to get perks and discounts as well.
The expansion of Magnises is in the offing with a recent investment of $3 million from a venture capitalist. McFarland correctly states that the business model that is working in New York City will also be viable in other, similar metro areas. He is right, of course, and the future looks very good, indeed.
